Mirror
I am in the mood for new
new guts new times brandishing
newer than a challenge new views
new as jazz banging on the piano
new as sand vanishing.
The trio was young and ancient
I told the band jazz is dying
cuz cuz it is stuck in the past
like war like the university
tortured to repeat itself.
Too long apart been together
sharing deciding creating
ten nine eight eight wait
passing by feels like that
if I know better you hear me.
Almonds apricots anticipation
are we not getting younger?
your my vocals pursue connection
like glass wants to keep the cab
I sip I am invisible.
Look into the mirror
I see you taking your time
and taking my time your face
a place I drink dream home
in the mirror darlings.
Let us have lots of fun
day night coast to coast
jazz rock beer wine
poem joke grin sigh
and long long silences.
Jazz like anything else
cannot survive without the pockets
of the many who don't get it
who gets our jazz?
the coffers are awfully full.
I see couples not touching
I am grateful for you
I hear songs with something to say
solid arrangements through centuries
you pillar my mind.
