hymn slices
The saint sipped an icy drink
at the edge of the desert
whispering the becomings
of an allegory about
dragonflies
and why we fear.
The teenager labors
chained down in a white shirt
broom and apron
stretching out the carcinogen
of growing up
or being forced to.
The outside world
goons hustle
they want and want
weegoo and portense
and flinching from you
don't.
Attend to the usual
popular and palatial
celebration of shadows
and the huge dog slows
down coming close to
a buttoned crawl.
Mother of twins
and her dad loiter
in the chocolatier's
hard-to-decide
temptation
theater.
Why do I record all this
frickasee and bamboozle
slowing the road down
stretching the beach out
so you will know
or be reminded.
If you understand this
long hidden hymn of
pillowonk and flamorosity
it could change your life
slowing the dander down
traipsing sure.
