banks suck
For years I have been depositing checks from out of state by direct deposit into a certain bank account. For some reason, at the beginning of the year, the company sent me a paper check instead of depositing electronically. When I took it to the bank for deposit, the teller freaked out, and took the check to the manager, and after a hushed conference, I was told that the only way that the bank could deposit the $1500 was to put a five day hold on it.
Huh?
When I objected, she explained, although it was no explanation at all, that the check was from out of state.
Huh?
If an out-of-state BILL was collected from my account, would they put a five-day-hold on that? No. Do they delay withdrawal for five days when I spend money from that account out of state? No, it is immediate. Did it matter that the same kind of check from the same company had been deposited semi-regularly for years from out of state? In this electronic economy, does it matter one whit what state a transaction takes place in? No. Did it matter than I had been a customer at this bank for ten years? No.
Ok.
New bank. Will they be better about customer service?
Yah.
